Hamburger and Hotdog Spiedini Hoagies

Can’t decide between a hamburger or a hot dog? With these Hamburger and Hotdog Spiedini Hoagies you won’t have to! Sprinkled with Adams Extract spices, they’re the best of both in one delicious sandwich. These hoagies are sponsored in conjunction with #BBQWeek. I received product samples from sponsors to use in creating #BBQWeek recipes. However, all opinions are mine alone.

Hamburger and Hotdog Spiedini Hoagies

So, you’re standing there at the grill or the buffet table and your head is going back and forth like you’re watching a tennis match.

Hamburger or hotdog? Hamburger?  Hotdog?

Back and forth you go thinking, “MAN!  I wish I could have half both without looking like a glutton.”  Well, if you’re barbecue guest had prepared these hamburger and hotdog spiedini hoagies, you total could have both and let your taste buds be happy!

So, when I did my research for the pork spiedini hoagies, I read somewhere that’s it’s basically a kabob or skewer or meat.  I guess things have changed since then and it’s not what I thought it was.  Go figure!

But I’m sticking to my title and my recipe.  It still sounds better than a kabob.

I’m not quite sure how I thought of this ingenious idea.  But I did.  And I’m so glad I did!!  This means I have a hamburger and a hotdog.  It also means that there won’t be leftover hamburgers or leftover hotdogs.  You might have leftover spiedini but that’s up to you.  If you   judge it right, you can easily grill up just enough for your guests with no leftovers.

Or, if you’re like me, you have leftovers on purpose, so you can have them for lunch the next day or later in the week.  And I have some of the best lunches at work!  I don’t have to go anywhere to get lunch, I don’t have to order anything and pick it up, and I don’t have to spend a small fortune eating lunch.  All wins in my book.

I have a confession: I’m not a huge fan of these photos.  I took them at work which used to be great!  There was a corner office with great sunlight streaming through.  Well, that office is now occupied, and I can’t use it any more.  I’ve found another empty office, but that window is much smaller and just doesn’t work well.

You do what you gotta do, though!

So, I used that office to photograph most of the recipes this week.  They’re not the greatest, but I hope they still look delicious and make you want to cook some of these dishes up at home.  Because these recipes are delicious!  These spiedini are delicious!

Seriously!  Who wouldn’t want mini hamburgers and hot dogs bites on a stick that you slap on a bun with some of your favorite hamburger and/or hotdog toppings?  I went all hamburger with mine.  There’s some onion and tomato on there with some cheese and mayonnaise.

Are you team mayo on your burger?

I am.  I HAVE to have mayonnaise on my burgers.  It’s an absolute requirement.  They taste try to me if there’s no mayo.  Even if it’s dripping with juices and not dry at all, without the mayo I’m lost.  I’m definitely team mayo!

I’m also team Adams Extracts!  They sent us some delicious rubs to cook with this week.  I received their Burgers & Fries & More seasoning along with their Sweet & Smoky Seafood and Salmon and The Great Steak of Texas.  I’ve used all three and they’re packed with flavor and not too much salt.  That’s always my complaint with premade spice mixes; too much SALT!

I’m so sensitive to salt that most think my food is bland.  That was definitely something I had to get used when the hubs and I got together.  He kept adding more and more salt to the dish.  I was like, THAT’S ENOUGH!  But it’s bland!  No it’s not!  You see where this is going.  I just have figured out ways to add the flavor he’s looking for without all that salt.  I swell up like a balloon when I’ve had too much salt.  It’s not fun.

And that’s probably TMI, but oh well!

You see what I mean about having the best of both worlds all on one bun?  Those burger bites are a little larger than a quarter, just for size comparison.  Those are your typical beef hot dogs so nothing too large.  However, you could mix things up and do brats and burgers instead of hotdogs.  You could do turkey burger bites and turkey hotdogs, meatball bites and Italian sausages; the combinations are endless!

Since the burgers are smaller than regular burgers, they cook in no time!  I mean, a few minutes on each side.  That’s an added bonus to this delicious recipe.  It takes no time at all to prep the burgers and hotdogs.  You simply form the patties and slice the hotdogs.  Voila!  Prep done.

You could even prepare them ahead of time and let them chill in the fridge until you’re ready to grill.  Perfect for a fun, family friendly party.  If you change it up some more foodie burger bites and sausages you can grill these up for any adult party, too!  Heck, imagine some lamb burgers and sausages or even duck or venison!  Seriously, you can kick these up any way you want and make them for any party you’re having.

I DEVOURED these for lunch the next day.

I went across the street and got some “fries” that are actually barbecue potato sticks.  So addictive!  I ate the whole bag in a week they were so good.  And they were perfectly flavored to go with these hoagies for lunch.  They’re so good, I’m definitely putting these on the menu again.  But with different sausage and burger combinations.
